Hi everyone!
While we shared some photographs of the "dummy" books and slipcase last month, we received advance copies of the finished books recently, and they look just as nice!
Here is an "unboxing video" and a bunch of pics:
The books are now on a (literal) slow boat from China, and we hope to have them in August for fulfillment in September. We'll keep you updated as things get closer!
In the meantime, our current Kickstarter for Joel Dos Reis Viegas' URBANCEgraphic novel series, based on his stylish animated short film of the same name, is wrapping up on Friday!
We've put together some really cool limited editions of this really cool future-punk story. If you haven't checked it out, please do!
Thanks, everyone!
Some other projects worth checking out...

Hi, Everyone!
I know it has only been a few days since our last update, but there are a couple of other worthy campaigns going on now that we think you may also fall in love with!
If you love Mathieu Bablet’s work, or haven't yet made such a wonderful discovery, you won’t want to miss the third installment of his science fiction dystopian trilogy, SILENT JENNY, a breathtaking journey through a desert world struggling to deal with ecological disaster. It is a standalone story, as were the first two entries in the trilogy, SHANGRI-LA and CARBON & SILICON, sharing only the theme of exploring a far-flung future. If you missed either of those earlier titles and are curious about them, this campaign features new editions of all three!
This is Bablet at his best, and there’s still time to get in on the Kickstarter campaign exclusives! Check it out here!
Don’t just take our word for it! BOING BOING said it best:
"Mathieu Bablet builds intricate, believable worlds and then plops you into the middle of them without a map. Silent Jenny, his latest feat of confident dystopian worldbuilding, is finally getting a U.S. edition via Magnetic Press and Oni Press.... What stands out in the preview pages is the density of Bablet's world. The monads are less city-sized vehicles than accreted layers of adaptation and survival, all pipes, platforms, and stitched-together systems.”
Speaking of incredible comics, Anime Corner announced that Magnetic Press will soon be launching a Kickstarter for Joël Dos Reis Viegas’s URBANCE- a beautiful, four-volume expansion of the acclaimed art director’s viral animated short film. As a fan of sci-fi and cutting-edge animation, we think you'll really like it. This bio-punk, genre-blending series is a must-read! Be sure to sign up for the Kickstarter prelaunch page to receive an email when that campaign launches.
Check out the original animated short film below!
Mathieu Bablet isn’t the only creator wrapping up a graphic novel series on Kickstarter. Our friend and award-winning animator Stephan Franck at Dark Planet Comics is running a Kickstarter campaign for his original series PALOMINO Volume 6. Stephan has been a key creator on massive hits like Marvel's "What If?" and "The Iron Giant", and his immense talent is on full showcase with his original series. The epic, neo-noir saga follows a private eye and his daughter as they investigate a decade-spanning mystery that takes them on a tour of LA’s Honky Tonk clubs. Written and drawn by Franck, the sixth and final volume answers all their questions and turns their world upside down. You can support the campaign here.
As a fan of talented animators, we think you'll find each of these worth checking out! Thanks for all of your support! We are thrilled to be able to share so many amazing comics with such passionate fans!
Some sample pix from the printer!

Hi, everyone!
The surveys have been sent, and it looks like most of you have filled out your Pledge Manager already. If you haven't gotten your survey link by email yet, it may have gone into your spam or quarantine folder -- you can try going directly to https://peaceful-remission.backerkit.com/ and logging in there to complete your order survey. If you aren't sure about something or have any trouble, please email [email protected] and they will assist you.
We got some fully-treated production samples from the printer this week, and they look GREAT! Check out this flood of photos:
"But what about the insides?" you may ask. Well, these are what are called "unprinted dummies with treated covers", meaning that the covers are pretty much what you can expect from the final product, but the pages inside haven't yet been printed. So, for example, the white booklet you see in the photo just above this paragraph will be the BOREDOM art book... once printed. That's the actual paper stock and thickness, however.
The exposed binding and silkscreened covers turned out exactly as we imagined -- better even. We'll share pix of the fully-printed samples once they arrive in a few weeks. 🙂
In the meantime, if you haven't checked out the other campaign we're helping with, please take a look!
This is such an awesome book -- Mathieu's books always are amazing, and this one is no exception. They've already unlocked seven stretch goals so far, and there's still one week left! We urge you to take a look and join before the campaign ends next Friday! Mathieu's books are amazing on the inside, and the special campaign editions are pretty slick, too...
Thanks, everyone!
Wow. You all ROCK.

Hey, everyone!
We are floored. We love these books and are big fans of Jonathan's work, but your response to this campaign has blown us away. We cannot thank you enough! (But we will do our best by producing the coolest, highest quality stuff for you all!)
We'll get the Pledge Manager set up as quickly as possible. Backerkit suggests waiting the full two weeks for Kickstarter to finish collecting pledges, so we will aim to have surveys out by April 3rd. There is a lot to coordinate, with the books starting printer production tomorrow, and a load of cool stretch goal bonuses to design and manufacture. This is going to be fun! We can't wait!
This is the first campaign we've ended at midnight on a Thursday, admittedly an experiment. So we are equally exhausted and amped up! Our eyes are saying "go to sleep" but our brain is saying "get that pledge manager started!" I think we have to listen to our eyes first. The brain can have all day tomorrow.
Thanks for your interest and support! More updates soon!
One week left! Final stretch goals revealed!

Hi, everyone!
Wow, it is so amazing to see such excitement for Jonathan's graphic novels... you've really blown us away with your support! We've unlocked SIX stretch goals now, and revealed the final two!
The next goal will be a very nice porfolio of five linen cardstock art prints featuring a few slightly-abstract shots from WANDERING. Definitely some galley-quality images that will look great framed along an entryway hall...
Just beyond that, we'll unlock a 2" metal and enamel keychain featuring a spaceman from PEACEFUL REMISSION. Another iconic image that'll just look cool dangling from your keys. $160k might seem pretty far away, but at the pace of this campaign so far, it's not out of the realm of possibility! They don't call them "stretch goals" for nothin'...
Press outreach has continued to grow, and YouTuber @Matttttttt posted this really great video talking about Jonathan's career, his earlier projects, and this campaign in general. Really great, insightful stuff! If you're still unsure what to make of this campaign, he does a great job of encapsulating the real draw of Jonathan's talent:
We hope to have a few more press links to share before the campaign ends next Thursday at midnight PST. Stay tuned!
We're in the final stretch! Thank you so much for jumping on board, and please keep spreading the word!
